Financing Options

Accepted students may be eligible for federal grants/loans (undergraduates) and federal and/or private education loans (graduate students).

You should apply for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for each year you intend to be an Adelphi student. Visit studentaid.gov to learn more about eligibility and aid options.

Adelphi’s FAFSA school code is: 002666

Apply Via FAFSA

Eligible students are automatically considered for most Adelphi scholarships upon acceptance. Be sure to reference the specific terms and conditions for each award.

Grants are awarded to students on the basis of financial need as determined by the FAFSA and other defined criteria.

Except where noted, no additional application is required for scholarships or grants.

Visit our one-stop website to peruse some of the scholarship and grant opportunities we offer:

In addition to scholarships and grants offered by Adelphi, New York State and the federal government, you may be eligible for external scholarships, which can provide valuable financial support.

Adelphi’s Office of Prestigious Awards and Fellowships offers expert guidance on identifying opportunities and preparing competitive applications. Advisors can provide you with feedback on statements, applications and recommendation requests to help maximize your chances of success. Students are encouraged to schedule an appointment for personalized support.

We recommend exploring opportunities through:

  • Employers, unions and professional organizations
  • Community and special interest groups
  • High school counselors, public libraries and local Chambers of Commerce

Private loans, also known as alternative loans, are available through various lenders. These loans are designed to assist students and their families who need additional financing for educational expenses and may not be eligible for federal grants or federal loan funds.

Loan approval and fixed/variable interest rates can vary based on credit score, income and co-signer finances. Applicants with co-signers generally receive more favorable interest rates and higher approval rates.

We strongly advise carefully comparing the differences between private and federal loans as well as all repayment obligations.

Choosing a Lender

ELMSelect allows you to compare various private loan lenders that Adelphi University students have used historically. You are encouraged to review each lender’s information to determine which benefits and terms are best for you now and in the future.

Disclaimers: You are not required to borrow from any specific lender and there is no penalty for choosing one lender over another. Any lender not represented on the comparison tool can still be considered and certified by Adelphi University.

The Yellow Ribbon Program

Adelphi University proudly participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program.

Students eligible for 100% of their Post-9/11 G.I. Bill (Chapter 33) benefits may have their tuition fully or partially covered through a combination of G.I. Bill benefits and the school’s Yellow Ribbon Program.

See the student veterans services website for details about the benefits and process of applying.

Payment Options

Billing Schedule

Tuition and fees must be paid in full by the payment due date listed on the first bill. Registered students will be billed on the following schedule:

  • June for the upcoming fall semester
  • December for the upcoming spring semester
  • April for the upcoming summer semester

Bills will continue on a 21-day billing cycle with tuition and fee payments due on the 21 of each month.

Students enrolled in a payment plan will still receive a bill, but the bill will anticipate their remaining balance rather than a lump sum for the term.

Payment Plan

Adelphi University, in partnership with Transact (formerly Cashnet), offers interest-free payment plans on a semester basis, providing you with even more flexibility on how to manage paying for school. Students enrolled in a payment plan spread all or part of their balance over the course of the semester.

You can spread your balance across up to five payments per semester, depending on when you enroll. The earlier you enroll in a plan, the lower your monthly payments will be. Students will still receive a bill each month like all registered students.

Visit our payment plan page for more information. When you’re ready, you can enroll in a plan on the Transact website.

Additional Information:

  • Enrollment Fee: $35 per semester
  • Minimum Plan Budget Amount: $500 per semester
  • All payments are applied to prior term balances first
