Adelphi is proud to offer the Online MSW program with a rigorous but flexible curriculum taught by expert faculty who are practitioners, researchers and activists. The core curriculum provides the knowledge, skills, values and ethics essential to all forms and levels of generalist social work practice. You will then build on this foundation through advanced, contemporary direct practice that prepares you to apply sophisticated clinical skills to your work with individuals, small groups, families and couples.
An optional Health Across the Life Course specialization is available for those who want an essential overview of health care practice within the context of social work services. Fulfilled through three elective courses and supported by a field education assignment in a health care setting, this specialization is ideal for those who want to meet the growing demand for social workers in health settings. Participants will be empowered to provide exceptional care across diverse populations and throughout every phase of human life.

Nurturing productive one-on-one relationships is a vital part of any successful social work career. Our online MSW program ensures you have the chance to form personal connections with other students during on-campus visits, which are hosted twice annually at Adelphi’s main campus on Long Island. As part of these required in-person experiences, you’ll attend sessions in traditional classrooms and have lunch with your professors and peers.
Our intensive on-campus experiences take place in August and January, the week before the start of the Fall and Spring semesters, respectively.
Students attend classes from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. over the course of two to four days, always incorporating a weekend to accommodate full-time work schedules.
In light of the current public health crisis and the need to minimize interpersonal contact, Adelphi University has moved the learning experiences on the Long Island campus to a remote format through Fall 2021.
Beginning in January 2022, MSW students will have the option to attend virtual residencies, which will include opportunities to interact with peers and faculty. Students receive a virtual agenda prior to the residency. Current students may be granted permission to attend virtual residencies on a case-by-case basis.
Our intensive virtual residency experiences will take place in August and January, the week before the start of the Fall and Spring semesters, respectively.
Students attend classes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. over the course of two to four days, always incorporating a weekend to accommodate full-time work schedules. Please note that there are required live sessions on Thursday evenings.
Request information for additional details on the structure of the remote format.
