Dr. Shore is an expert in autism education and is frequently invited to present his work both domestically and abroad. His career is focused on helping persons with autism and other conditions to lead fulfilling and productive lives. As a person who was diagnosed with regressive autism at the age of 18 months, he has a particularly unique perspective and deep knowledge about the condition.
Dr. Shore has contributed to multiple books and has authored his own including Understanding Autism for Dummies, which is currently ranked within the top 100 books on Amazon in the Disabilities category. His work has been published in scholarly articles and appears in conference presentations and digital medias. His research interests related to autism and Asperger Syndrome include a successful transition to adulthood, employment, comparative approaches for treating children with autism, socially-based inclusion methods, self-advocacy, teaching persons on the autism spectrum how to play musical instruments, and how autism is perceived and treated in other countries.
In addition to his publications, Dr. Shore serves on the board of Autism Speaks and is a former board president of the Asperger/Autism Network.
Dr. Shore earned his PhD in Education and a Master of Arts in Music from Boston University. He also holds Bachelor’s degrees in Music Education and Accounting and Information Systems from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
