Curriculum

Whether you work in a school system, community agency, health clinic or other professional setting, our online Advanced Certificate in Autism and Multiple or Severe Disabilities and Advanced Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorders offer you an opportunity to gain knowledge and skills that will enhance your ability to help individuals in these populations achieve their full potential. The coursework for each program incorporates current research, evidence-based knowledge and best practices, and aligns with the professional standards set forth by the Council for Exceptional Children.

All program graduates earn a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Adelphi University that appears on their transcript.

Graduates of the Advanced ASMD from New York State are recommended for the Education Department’s Annotation in Severe or Multiple Disabilities. No additional certification exams are required, but these students must apply for the annotation through the state’s TEACH website.

Graduates outside of New York should check with their state education department to find out how the Advanced ASMD may apply to certification extension requirements in their state.
